Moving Writing Prompts

How’s everyone’s July going? It’s been a messy Camp NaNo for me. I haven’t been super motivated but I have forced myself into writing sprints with friends and all those lovely people on Youtube who have been creating daily sprint livestreams.

I’m also kinda blah on topics right now. I have August. most of September, October, and November planned out but my July has been a bit uncreative (might be because I am writing for work too so my brain is zapped by the time I get to writing for myself). So I’m going to give a new prompt for anyone else who is a bit stuck creatively.

This month, my sister is moving which has inspired me with these prompts.

So let’s get to it.

Family moving into a new place provided by HiveBoxx

  • A kid moving away from the house for the first time. Possibly to college.
  • Finding out that the place you’re going to move into has found a new roommate and left you out in the dust with your boxes.
  • Moving in with a significant other.
  • Twins moving out and for the first time not living with each other.
  • Keeping a long distance relationship or friendship when one moves away.
  • Military kid finding out they’ll never have to move again.
  • Moving away for the first time after being someplace for most of your life.
  • Moving across country and starting over.

Word Collections

These are 3 to 5 word groupings to either inspire or to create a challenge of trying to fit all 3 to 5 words into your story.

  • Excited, Nervous, Boxes
  • Organize, Moving, Cans, Cat
  • Fold, Groceries, TV, Couch
  • Laundry, Sale, Overwhelmed, Job
  • Dog, Loose, Lemonade, Carry
  • Exit, Drive, Move, Kids
  • Lunch, Work, Extra, Gas
  • Unload, Wrong, Frustrated, Glass, Fragile

There should be some prompts you can be inspired by especially if you’re stuck (both mentally and physically with all that’s going on).

Let me know in your comments if you used any, what sort of twists you took, and if you’d like to see more in the future. Plus, let us know some of your prompts as well.

And please stay safe out there. There has been a rise in cases all over the United States. It’s a scary time. Take care of each other.
