We Need to Do Better

I went back and forth about posting this. I had another post ready to go at 11:30 and then at 11:00 I stopped myself.

I didn’t want to get serious again on here. I had gotten serious far too many times (for far less), but then I realized I was required to say something. I was required by my privilege to speak. I am a white cis woman.

Black Lives Matter

They more than matter. They are an important piece to the fabric of our world. They are our fellow human being. They are beautiful and wonderful.

And they are being killed.

Police brutality is something we, as a collective, should fight. It is not a black or white thing. It hurts our neighbors. It makes our closest friends afraid. It makes those who condemn people for their skin more powerful.

Black mothers shouldn’t have to tell their children to keep their hands up and even if they’re beaten, just do as they say. Just so they can see their children again.

We need to vote. We need to remove those in power who use power as a weapon against their own people. We need to support our black and POC friends, businesses, and creators.

I don’t have any money to give. I can’t march in protests for fear of my health. I am a writer on a silly little blog. So I will write.

Black Lives Matter

And we need to start acting like it.

If you are black or POC, please remember you are worthy of good things and I am behind you in this. If you’re a writer or a creative, please reach out to me. I would love to have you on my blog. I would love to feature your work.

And I hope you stay safe out there.
