Wow, we’ve already reached the second half of the year. A lot has happened in the past 6 months. Some good, some very bad. But one thing is for sure, there’s a lot of books still coming out in 2020.
I’m still a bit behind on my 50 books this year…which I tend to always be every year. Whoops. But I keep trucking on.
And once again, there’s plenty of books I’m excited for this year. Here is a list of books for the second half of the year!
(June 2nd) A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow
This book written by a POC author is about sirens in Portland Oregon. What else needs to be said to get you excited about this book? The cover is beautiful. The combination of fantasy troubles and real life problems is fantastic. I can’t wait to get my hands on this book.
(July 7th) Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim
Okay, I normally try not to put the second book in a series as one of the books I’m looking for but ooooh my goodness I’ve been waiting for this book since I started the first one. The writing is fantastic. I love the characters and I need more story! I believe this is supposed to be a duology (I could be wrong) and I’m a huge fan of duologies. A bit more story than one book, but not drawn out. I need this book now.
(July 9th) Loveless by Alice Oseman
The ace in me is so excited for this book! This is an aromantic asexual coming-out story! I’ll have to let my friend who is both know because there’s someone like her in books! I know there’s a lot of exclamation points, but it’s so nice to see representation and I can’t wait to read it.
(August 4th) They WIsh They Were Us by Jessica Goodman
This book is giving me a People Like Us vibe and some how that book hooked me so hard I couldn’t put the book down. It had been one of the few books I had read in paperback last year (I read a lot of ebooks and audiobooks last year) and I could never put it down. I hope this gives me the same thriller, suspense feeling. Fingers crossed.
(September 1st) Fable by Adrienne Young
First the cover is beautiful. Second this is itching at the deepest part of my fantasy genre urges. The world, the hero’s journey, the current high rating on goodreads. I can’t wait to settle down and get comfortable with this book.
(September 22nd) Fifty Words for Rain by Asha Lemmie
I was drawn to this book first because of how beautiful the cover was. The color palette is to die for. It’s a story set in post WW2 Japan of a girl, the daughter of a Japanese aristocrat and her African American GI lover. It’s a coming of age story and a quest of acceptance. It sounds wonderful and full of heart.
(October 20th) Among the Beasts and Briars by Ashley Poston
Another fantasy that sounds fantastic to me. I might have a huge weakness for fantasy (don’t shame me). I also love the name Cerys. I heard of it months ago and wanted to use it in a story. This is full of magic and fantasy and just stuff that I love in a story.
(November 24th) Ruinsong by Julia Ember
Got myself another LGBTQA+ story on this list. Sorry not sorry! And this one also combines magic, fantasy, and royalty. What’s not to love?
And that’s my 2020 list. If you missed my other selections you can check out my early 2020 list here.
Let me know in the comments below any books you’re excited about this year. I’ll go check them out as well.
